Day 21, Portrait 6

There is something in this akin to family love: we have our roles and I am known to you and you are known to me. We rely on so little to get by, Marina, but it takes a great deal to survive. Smile. Swallow. Shift the gaze. It is tiny, difficult, everything. We wet our lips in mirror. We do not cry. Each moment is a meditation, and we hold each other with open palms.*
